Three Newton wrestlers are ranked in the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association (KWCA) pre-season rankings released November 2, 2017. 

Grant Treaster is ranked #1 at 113 lbs.  Wyatt Hendrickson is #1 at 195 lbs., and Cyle Gautschi is #2 at 220 lbs.

Goddard is the top ranked class 5A team, followed by Blue Valley Southwest at #2 and Maize at #3.  Newton is ranked 9th as a team.
